**Update from earlier AlertSF** The Tsunami Advisory is still in effect for all coastal regions in California. The amplitude of generated waves is estimated at 22 cm for the San Francisco Bay. This may cause stronger currents that can be hazardous for boaters, swimmers, and persons along the beach, but is not expected to do damage to the coastline. We advise the public to avoid swimming and boating in our local waterways only as a precaution. Ocean Beach remains open, however safety advisories are being posted by US Park Police to avoid the area until 4:00PM.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami advisory for the coast of California and an Alaskan coastal area. This was initiated due to the earthquake which occurred in South American country of Chile. The Golden Gate National Recreation Area along with allied agencies are monitoring coastal regions. There is no plan to restrict access to beaches at this time. Should conditions change, the Department of Emergency Management will issue an updated alert.
